NJ-HITEC - New Jersey Health Information Technology Extension Center Address: 211 Warren Street, Suite 307, Newark, New Jersey 07103 NEWS: NJ-HITEC Offers Meaningful Minutes GI Specific Program to Assist in Achieving Meaningful Use Description Education, Training, and Support Services for MU Stage 2, Reporting PQRS The New Jersey Health Information Technology Extension Center (NJ-HITEC) is a national leader in Health Information Technology (IT) through its expertise in assisting Primary Care Providers (PCPs), Specialists, and Sub-Specialists achieve Stage 1 Meaningful Use of Electronic Health Records. Moreover, NJ-HITEC is now preparing its members for Stage 2 Meaningful Use that begins in January 2014. NJ-HITEC offers a number of practical tools and educational programs to support its members through the Meaningful Use process including a(n):
NJ-HITEC understands that the Health IT landscape is fluid and constantly changing. However, achieving Meaningful Use is the foundation upon which physicians can reap the financial benefits of additional incentive funded programs like Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) or Account Care Organizations (ACOs). In turn, NJ-HITEC’s members and non-members have access to additional services including:
NJ-HITEC has thousands of member providers who, collectively, received and will continue to receive millions of dollars in federal incentive funding. Our physicians are reaping the financial rewards as well as the benefits of Health IT. Moreover, we continually update our members on the latest information released by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicare Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) as well as explain how each new ruling, procedure, or policy will affect them and their practice. The strength of NJ-HITEC is our highly skilled and innovative staff that remains ahead of the curve in developing new programs, tools, training, and services to assist its members reach their Meaningful Use objectives. NJ-HITEC established a reputation in the medical community as being a valuable resource in resolving the simplest to the most complex problems in meeting the federal requirements of Meaningful Use. One of the innovative programs offered by NJ-HITEC, in partnership with NJ Medicaid, is the Medicaid Specialist Program. This program is assisting 500 Specialists select, adopt, and implement Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems to improve the quality of patient health care. The Medicaid Specialist Program is the first of its kind nationally and is a model for other states. It offers qualified dentists, behavioral health practitioners, orthopedics, dermatologists, and other specialty physicians the opportunity to obtain federal incentive funding after meeting the EHR requirements of Meaningful Use. NJ-HITEC is the Garden State’s only Regional Extension Center (REC) established by the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) through a $23 million grant through the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) as part of the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA). NJ-HITEC is a national leader among the 62 RECs whose mission is to improve the delivery of healthcare and patient care through Health Information Technology (IT).
